10 Words that Saved Me
Ho'oponopono prayer, by Dr. Hew Len from Hawaii. Ho'oponopono is defined in the Hawaiin dictionary as a mental cleansing and setting things right through mutual restitution and forgiveness.
Have you ever had that 1 friend, family member or co-worker that just really pissed you off, or you were cut off in traffic? You flew off the handle at someone and then regretted it later? You just cannot stop replaying that one event over and over again? It has turned you into a maniac, someone you don't recognize. Then, this event and the thoughts turns your whole mood around and that starts a whole day of misery? Yeah.....been there. I was having a really hard time with something and it kept playing out in my mind, I would find myself dwelling on it all day. It wasn't me, I knew in my heart that what had happened was meant to be, and, it was actually a good thing. But, I just kept on. I was talking it out with a friend of mine and she asked...had I heard of the Ho'oponopono prayer? Nope...never. So, she explained to me, how it had helped her out in one of her darker days. So, I decided to give it a whirl.
I went home, said it a couple times over an over, I could feel something shift. But then I stopped saying it. Those feeling came back, and there I was, obsessing over that same event. I said, well...I guess it doesn't work for me. A couple days later, I was listening to one of my favorite podcasts, The Goddess and the Medicine Women (check them out on Spotify by the way). There is was...they used the Ho'oponopono prayer!! I went on with my day and I started listening to another favorite podcast, and bam! there it was AGAIN! Well, I am pretty open to signs and synchronicities these days so I decided I had better try it again, before they dropped a piano on my head. I am super glad that I did!! It works!! I say these words every night before I go to bed. In fact, I actually fall asleep while saying these words.
I'm sorry
Please Forgive Me
Thank You
I Love You
I wake up every morning with a fresh new outlook on life and I rarely dwell on the problems or issues I had the day before. If it was something extreme and I do wake up thinking about it I sit and repeat it over and over again while running reiki. This is an awesome experience.
I looked into why these words are so helpful. What I found was truly amazing. They free us from negative emotions and destructive thinking patterns. Why? I'll explain..
Repentance, Forgiveness, Gratitude and Love
When you Say:
I'm sorry, (repentance) you are recognizing and accepting responsibility for the action, thoughts and emotions that have caused conflict to manifest into your reality.
Please forgive me, (forgiveness) you are requesting to make amends with your higher self and the Universe alike.
Thank you (gratitude) gives you the opportunity to show gratitude to your higher self, as well as the Universe for allowing your negative thoughts, actions and emotions to be cleared.
I love you (love) is emitted out into the Universe as a form of gratitude when you use the words in this way you are saying, I love you for allowing me this earth experience.
Don't believe me? Check out the story of Dr. Hew Len, he is from Hawaii. Ho'oponopono is defined in the Hawaiin dictionary as a mental cleansing and setting things right through mutual restitution and forgiveness. Dr Len worked at the Hawaii State Hospital, in the high security ward for the criminally insane from 1983 to 1987. It is said that he cured an entire batch of criminally insane patients using this simple ancient Hawaiian healing method. He would walk the halls with their files, but never met with these inmates. He did it all by looking at their files and the horrible things that they had done and repeating these words over their files. He was asked how he did this and what caused these inmates to change. He said "I was simply healing the part of me that created them". He believed that total responsibility for your life means everything in your life. You are the creator of your world, that means everything, everything you see, hear, taste, touch and experience. These words teach us to take 100% responsibility for everything in our world.
I thought that was a great story. Take what parts resonate with you, but just know, these words have been a life saver for me in my world. I am so incredibly happy that I came across this. Give it a try!! What do you have to lose? Just that negative thought or emotion!!
Love Michele
